Batik is one of Indonesia’s most precious heritages. Therefore, Educa Studio announced it’s newest board game, The Heritage of Batik.
There are a lot of ways to conserve a heritage. One unique way is by creating an attractive and fun board game. Educa Studio did exactly that with The Heritage of Batik board game.
The release of this game was during Indonesia’s official Batik Day on October 2nd. In addition to the release of the game, Educa Studio team all wore Batik during the event Batik’s Playday.
Lelang Mania, Card Game by Ghosty’s Comic is Open for Pre-Order
We had the chance to interview the CEO of Educa Studio, Andi Taru to get more information on the game. Here is the recap:
CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT HOW TO PLAY THE HERITAGE OF BATIK GAME?
The game focuses on tile placement and hand management. There are two types of cards. One is the chocolate cards where you can gain special effects such as stealing opponents’ asset.
The others are Batik cards itself and are a method of buying Batik tiles. Players can buy Batik tiles ranging from 1 points to 8 points. The player who gets 41 points first wins the game.
The board of the game itself is not big nor small, it’s the right size for 2-4 players. Up to four players can play and enjoy The Heritage of Batik. Therefore, the gameplay can span up to 45-90 minutes.
WHEN CAN WE BUY THE GAME AND HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
As of now, The Heritage of Batik is still in the development process and will soon be ready for pre-purchase. Hopefully by the end of the year players can pre-order the game. But as of now, we are still figuring out the price and currently testing out through gaming communities.
WILL THERE BE A DIGITAL VERSION OF THE GAME? IF SO, WHEN WILL IT BE RELEASES?
Yes, there will be for Android and or iOS. We want players to experience something different from both the board game and the digital game. So it will not be 100% the same. Players who play the board game will experience what digital does not offer and vice versa. We are targeting the Beta version to be ready by the end of the year.
WHAT ARE YOUR EXPECTATIONS IN THE FUTURE FOR THIS GAME?
We want to bring a new color to the Indonesian Game Industry. Therefore we created The Heritage of Batik game. This will be the media in which Indonesians can be proud of something they own, which is Batik.
As a result, we want to constantly continue making games that are identical to Indonesian culture. Whether it be digital games or board games.
